Privacy policy

Chincove is a small, independent chinchilla care site. It does not sell products, run user accounts, or ask you to log in, so there is very little of your data for it to hold. This page explains the parts that do exist.

Who runs this site

Chincove is written and operated by Cora, an experienced chinchilla keeper. The story of the site and the promise behind every guide are on the about page.

Analytics

Chincove uses Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand which guides are read and how people find the site. This measures things like page views, rough location by country, the device and browser type, and the page that referred you. It is used in aggregate to improve the content. Google may set cookies to do this. You can block them with your browser settings or a content blocker, and the site still works.

Affiliate links

Chincove participates in the Amazon Associates Program. Some links to gear may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, Chincove may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Those programs may set their own cookies to attribute a sale. What gets recommended is decided by what actually works for the animals, never by a commission.

What the site does not do

Chincove does not collect names, email addresses, or payment details, because it has no sign-up, newsletter, checkout, or comment system. It shows no ads. It does not sell or share personal data, because it does not gather it in the first place. Any future feature that changes this will be described here first.

Your choices

You can refuse cookies through your browser and still read everything. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete data that analytics providers hold. Google explains its own data handling and controls in its privacy policy, and those controls apply to the analytics described above.
