The chinchilla care cove
Chinchillas are tough little animals with two famous weak points: heat above 75°F can kill in an afternoon, and teeth that never stop growing can fail quietly for months. Chincove covers both properly, along with the dust baths, hay, and cages that fill the rest of a good chinchilla life.
The cove started as the cool corner I built for Pebble after one bad summer afternoon. I’m Cora, ten years of chinchillas, and this site is that corner opened up for everyone. Meet the keeper.
Heat safety first
The densest fur of any land animal and no way to sweat: past 75°F (24°C), heat stroke becomes a real risk, and by the time a chin looks sick it is an emergency. Air conditioning is care equipment, not a luxury.
